Kenneth Turner Blackshaw - Author, Naturalist, Ornithologist
Ken Started bird watching on Nantucket Island with mentor, Maria Mitchell Association Ornithologist Edith F. Andrews, back in the early 1950s. Since then, he has traveled the world over, courtesy of the U.S. Air Force and IBM, seeing birds, studying their behavior and authoring and editing many books about birds. He is nationally recognized for his birding skills.
A Year of Birding Nantucket, Volumes One through Six, published from 2005 to 2013, are compilations of over 200 species accounts compiled from Mr. Blackshaw's weekly column for the Nantucket Independent newspaper.
