This counted cross stitch kit is adapted from a sampler by Elizabeth Starbuck, c. 1800. It's a marking sample, usually one of the first pieces a girl did in preparation for her duties as a wife and mother. It taught her to stitch the alphabet so she could mark her family's linens with initials and the date.
Designed exclusively for the Nantucket Historical Association, this kit comes as close as possible to the original colors and design.
