Keeping the Light is an account of the 2007 move of the imperiled Sankaty Head Lighthouse, which was within 70 feet of the edge of Sconset's North Bluff. With a bit of history, a primer on Nantucket Island geology, and many photographs, it commemorates the relocation and preservation of this national landmark through the leadership of the 'Sconset Trust, its members, and the hundreds who donated to ensure the light's safe delivery. This process was truly an island-wide effort' not only was a lighthouse saved, but so too was a cherished member of the community.
