This reproduction scrimshaw whale tooth is patterned from the original dated March 18, 1835 from the whale ship Mariner, Edward Starbuck. On one side of the tooth is an illustration of a building with the opposite side labeled as Liberty and Unity with a sailing ship on the seas with sailors harpooning whales. Near the tip of the tooth is a drawing of a sperm whale.
The piece is handmade in Massachusetts of "eco ivory", a high-quality resin that mimics actual ivory. The intricate scrimshaw design and authentic coloration of the piece is a testament to the skill of the artisans who crafted this unique collectable work of art. The tooth measures 7-5/8" long.
